Music player app for Android
« on: October 23, 2018, 07:04:22 PM »

I went on Google play for a music player app for my nook 7 . About a hundred to pick from. Any preferences/favorites?

I use a similar mini tablet to play mp3 music during band breaks at live shows. I use an app called "Music Folder Player" by ZorillaSoft. They have a free version and a full version.

I first sort my music into different folders on the tablet, some by genre and some by predetermined break length. It is easy to navigate in and out of folders. You can set it to start playing within a folder automatically or, (the one I prefer,) manually. In manual mode, once you enter a folder, you simply double-tap on the first song and it plays down the entire list of songs. That's just what I needed.

I use poweramp on android, it's a paid app (with a free trial version for 30 days), but relatively cheap (4.99 I think?). Good UI, easy library navigation either by mp3 metadata (artist, album, etc) or physical folder, custom playlists, lots more. Lots of shuffle/repeat options and a robust homescreen widget if you're into that.

VLC player for Android.  If you dig down in the options/preferences you can set it to play one song at a time from a play list, stopping after each song...

Plus is streams, converts and makes lunch... okay, kidding about lunch.

It's also open source and free.

The meal service is currently in the alpha version, not sure when it will reach full release.

So the rumours of Winamp's death - a decade ago - were greatly exaggerated?

I learn something every day. :D

Will VLC play Wav files? I looked at it and it looks like a video player. I am looking for something (an android app) to play Wav files when setting up a sound system and listening to how it sounds. I have more then enough storage on the android device I would be using for this.
