Most durable HDMI cables?
« on: October 23, 2018, 06:20:22 pm »

I am looking for HDMI cables that are tough enough to double up as tow winch ( an exaggeration) .   I need cables that can be rolled out, taped down, walked over, food carts pushed over, wrapped up, and tossed in a case. Every day. Does such a cable exist that can handle this and still keep working - reliably, for as long as possible?

I am not sure HDMI is up to that task.  SDI would allow you to use much more rugged coax.

I have also had problems with SDI cables too, though fewer. Primarily the converters. But I am wondering - is it possible to get SDI cables with a stranded center conductor? All the SDI cables I have seen so far have solid copper center conductor wire, which has a tendency to break after a lot of turning and bending. HDMI over cat5 has been problematic too, even though the cables are cheap to replace.

We use Canare L-4.5CHWS and like it very much.
