Not an attempt to turn this into a political discussion but it's the first I've heard of any sort of industry wide supply chain problem.  I'd have thought such an issue would make it to the mainstream news if it affected the electronics industry as a whole.  Is this what a trade war battle looks like or is this just poor planning on the part of industry execs who didn't see an economy heating up quite as fast as it has?

Components have been an issue for a good part of the year - tariffs or whatever, prices have gone up and availability has gone down.

My understanding, which may be right or wrong or a little of both, is that the majority of the shortages have been caused by a known price increase that was coming combined with a few very large companies buying up all available inventory before the price changes went into effect.
These shortages have hit all electronics manufacturers.

This is different than the ongoing issues that Turbo and some others have experienced for very long periods of time.

The Music Group supply chain issues have been going on since MG acquired TC Group. Not really related to the current trade situation, but that may exacerbate things, as well.

Rane was also acquired my InMusic and their US manufacturing and support operation was shuttered. Things have gone to hell there, as well. Rane used to have one of the best support and repair programs in the industry. Now, they no longer stock any parts for legacy products. . .legacy being more than two years old or so. Happened long before the current trade war.

Other manufacturers have sent out emails detailing uncertainty and price increases. Checkers Safety notified me of price increases the week after the tariffs were announced. Music Group is doing a 10%-15% price increase across all product line effective Nov. 1 2018.

Thanks for the heads-up. I was waiting around on putting an order in for something, but have gone ahead now.

Lead times are up on components not so much due to tariffs but due to demand and availability of raw materials.  When the tariffs were announced there was a run on some parts but they were having a hard time keeping up.   Add the two together and lead times jump.  Apparently caps are one of the hardest hit components.  Even if you were over in Shenzhen stalking the markets at HQB you'll still have a hard time getting some parts.

It seems that Lab Gruppen will only sell parts to 'authorized service centers'.  Anyone on the forum have access to the LG parts stream that could supply a set of output binding posts for a Lab IPD 1200?
I recently bought a couple of PLM20000q amps and one was binding post, one was nl4/nl8 output. I wanted to convert them to match so I contacted Lab.Gruppen directly (via their inefficient website contact form - wait for an email reply) and a service center listed on the Lab.Gruppen website.

AUDIOLAB OF GEORGIA, INC. 3611 Clearview Place. Doraville. Georgia, United States 30340. (770) 455-0571.

Audiolab got me the NL4/NL8 pcb in a short time from the USA distribution center for a reasonable price, and Colin at Audiolab seemed to have some inside info on parts availability, etc, and he was great at customer service.  About two weeks later I received a reply from Lab.Gruppen telling me the part I need can be obtained, and it was marginally cheaper than the price I got from Audiolab. What is NOT available is the chassis plate required to mount the pcb, so I still have mismatched PLMs... rumor has it that part is on order and I can get it in a few months.  The lack of a direct support contact from Lab.Gruppen is astonishing given the industry position of the brand.

Another shortage I am seeing in Australia at least is amp modules for DB Technologies products. We have had about 8 or 9 DB Tech. Flexsys monitors in for warranty repairs and the amp module/DSP has failed in them all. We have been waiting on part for over 6 months and the importer has been stripping new modules from new stock to fulfil the customers needs. Which is mighty good of them, but they now have a pile of new product with no amp modules 3 months further down the track.

Another reason I'm not a fan of powered speakers.  To circle back on this I resolved the problem by finding the OEM maker of the binding posts - Cliff Electronics - in the UK and then discovering that an old QSC parts amp collecting dust on a high shelf had the same binding posts.    Lab amps are almost half of my inventory and I'm very happy with the performance of the LG amps when they work but these IPD units will be the last that I buy.  The customer support isn't up to snuff under the new regime.

Hi All,

Please allow me to introduce myself, my name is Michael Lapke and I'm a Community Specialist for MUSIC Tribe working out of the Los Angeles, CA office to help support our customers via social media and forums. A friend just recently pointed me to this topic thread so I wanted to chime in here and provide some details on what's been happening with our CARE Parts support process in recent weeks.

On behalf of my colleagues in CARE, I wanted to relay that recently we've introduced some changes into the way we deliver and procure spares, particularly for the specialist longer lead time parts. We are working very hard to close out any remaining issues and ultimately our goal is to have the impact be low at all times in order not to affect our customers. We offer our sincerest apologies to anyone who may be affected by the recent changes.

It's encouraged for customers to contact our CARE team directly via email "[email protected]" if you need further support with acquiring parts.

Does this mean Music Group/Tribe/band of gypsies has found a way to un-screw the pooch on Turbo Flex parts?
