Just a foot or so from being a neck-breaker instead of a Nord-breaker, really fortunate the keyboard player didn't lean forward when the backdrop hit him.

Perhaps some more folks now have learned that a backdrop the size of a large sail works like a large sail in "breezy" conditions...

Hard to tell from the video if there was even any wind, forecast for Sunday didn't show any weather systems moving through that area, either.

It at least looks like the keyboardist is ok, later reports have him being discharged from the hospital.

Geez, that could have been a lot worse than it was.

If we as an industry can't get ahold of stage safety soon, we're going to start having the government step in to take over, which no one will like.

$%^&*(!  He was lucky.  You can see him freaking out in the background.  Don't blame him.
How do you not tie something that tall and heavy down?

I believe it will come down to insurance companies refusing to cover these events......
I mean, why should MY insurance have to cover stupid ?
Granted, i don't know the details of this case, but still.....

Taylor,

It is hard to miss the wind-blown backdrop in the video pulling the truss over.

A light forecast is no excuse for not using proper stays to prevent catastrophic failure.

Taylor,

It is hard to miss the wind-blown backdrop in the video pulling the truss over.

A light forecast is no excuse for not using proper stays to prevent catastrophic failure.
It's also hard to miss the two drapes to either side of the truss span that are stone still.

Watching the video a bit more, it looks like the drape attached to the falling truss is being pulled or otherwise held stage right from the get-go, I wonder now if something was afoot backstage that compromised the structure?
