Is AEC Necessary when near-end is only receiving?

Correct me if I have this wrong...

When it comes to teleconferencing, there is no need for AEC processing if the communication is only one way, correct?

For instance, if there is a page over the loudspeakers, the need for AEC would be irrelevant since the near-end is only receiving and not sending.

Automatic echo cancellation would not be necessary in a one way audio path over Telco or IP.  With proper mix minus sends it is generally not used in two way conversations either.
