What mic is this?
« on: October 15, 2018, 12:24:43 pm »

Here's a pic and a video of Chistina Aguilera singing into a corded mic that looks to have some sort of DSP built into it.  Anyone know what this is?

From the video it looks like those are some custom mics, they have 3 sections that are 3 different colours.

Seems like those are Shure capsules, 58 on Jimmy's and probably an 87/86 on Christina's.

Odd, for sure (Shure?).

Something behind the amps also has blue LCD displays similar to the mics.

Quite an amalgam of design cues there. The orientation of the LCD screen says Sennheiser EW (or maybe 9000?), but the placement and color says Shure...

I wonder if this is just a case of the prop department being cheeky and modding wireless mics to appear corded for a more "modern" look? Certainly wouldn't be the first time for something like this.

I thought it was pretty interesting.  I don't recall ever seeing a wired mic with a screen on it like these have.   It could be something done by the prop department, but I don't understand why they would go to the trouble to do this.

Quite the joke.
Remember all those staged events with a 58 and a cut-off XLR sticking out the bottom, for the "wireless look" ?
What goes around, comes around....

Ya, Whatever. Just throw a '57 on it, and get off my stage.

If that case I would put my money on Sennheiser 5000s with thread adaptors.

Hi,

My guess would be the Zaxcom ZMT3-HH, a digital wireless body with analog XLR and an internal recorder too, compatible to Shure capsules.
Used in broadcast because of 3 redundant ways to ensure you have a audio signal afterwards.

Altough i must admit iīve never seen one personally the mic in the pics looks a lot like it.

Winner winner chicken dinner!  No doubt that is it.  Clearly a product that this group was not too familiar with.
