Stage Monitor Recommendations
« on: October 15, 2018, 08:50:39 AM »

Hi,

My church are looking to buy a stage monitor so that the musicians can hear themselves. The PA system is fairly old so it would probably be easier and simpler to get a powered loudspeaker.

The church has about 60 people, but is growing.

With a budget of up to £350, what stage monitors would you recommend?

Is that $350 total or $350 per wedge available?

If you only have $350 to play with total, then look at Electro Voice ZLX, or the new QSC CP series. Probably the best you can get for that price.

£350, actually, not $350.00. And since the OP said "buy a stage monitor," (singular) and that's the budget, I think the total and per-wedge price are the same.

I don't know how to get the little pence, quid, pounds, or whatever line, so I just used the dollar sign. It is the same either way if that was his budget per wedge or only one wedge, but thanks for clearing that up  ;)

If he had wanted two speakers though? Later in his post, he asks what stage " monitors " would you recommend. Which can be read as which ones to choose, or multiples of which one to buy. I read it quickly and got stuck on the possibility that he wanted more than 1 option and perhaps more than 1 wedge. Hence again, the clarification.

Turbosound iX12 is $299 and isn't terrible.

It's for a single wedge. I think it suits us better to just have one for the musicians. £350 comes to about $450 if that helps.

Just remember that with a powered monitor you will have to get both a signal cable AND a power cable to the box... That can be annoying if you’re not geared up for such stuff.
