Frustrating isn't it. Then they get pissed when they have to spend more money on backline, premium soundboards etc.

On the same topic- I've got a regional band requesting mains to be capable of 120db C-weighted @ FOH for a street festival for a small brewery. This seems unrealistically high to me especially given it's in a residential area. What do you think? Is that an obsurd request?

Not at all.  Before I read this, I was thinking I would like 120dBC sustained at the listening position ideally.  So, you need 150dBC ish sustained at 1meter.  That's a big system, that's for sure!
