Hey Pete, Your "Con" on the RAD system, "programs only by USB" is not accurate. Both belt packs and base stations are fully programmable directly from their front panel UI.

You are totally right - what i should have said is

The computer programming can only be done over usb.  All functions can also be front panel programmed as well.

Hey Pete, this link is actually for SR09, "Microphone Dressing for Theatre". Your session was SR10, but when you go to that page, there' just the original blurb for the session.

That microphone dressing session was also in last year's convention, 2017 not 2018. 143rd convention not 145th.

A few added notes

Freespeak II ;   9 ounces,  Very good battery life 15 hrs+, great sound,  loved by user, good pricing, good software browser based

Bolero; 14 oz,  Very good battery life 15 hrs+, great sound, Needs Artist system.  loved by users, expensive system, fair software

RAD;   23 oz  worst battery life 4 hrs, packs get hot,  great sound and good range, no delay, true sidetone ,Pack antenna is headset cord (can be problem),   users do not like pack,  expensive system not so good software

Nice notes, thanks.

FSII:  Browser based programming definitely a con.  No offline programming.
Bolero:  Now has stand alone system no need for Artist.  Some programming of bp and antennas also browser based, no offline programming

I consistently get at least 8 hours out of a fully charged battery. Other features: Low battery warning on base station and low battery warning tone in headset (usually 20 minutes remaining when these are active).
The packs getting warm was an issue with early packs. The v2.0 packs currently shipping run much cooler with corresponding increase in battery life. The original SW was clunky, the current version is much more streamlined and responsive, runs on both Mac and Windows, and has been out for about a year now. If you looked at RAD when it first came out, it's really worth another look. The product has come a long way since it was first released.
