Did you ever solve the problem?  I have a ew100 G3 that just started doing the same thing.  How did you solve it?
It's possible, but as an aside, please note the Rules of Participation for the ProSoundWeb, wherein we do require that you post using your Real, Full Name. Aliases are not permitted for posting. Replaced the capsule and it was all good again, much as I was expecting.

There is a 150K resistor inside the capsule that goes bad.  Mic works fine once it is replaced.  Just did 3 of them.

Thanks for the suggestions.  The mic wasn't even registering audio on the transmitter itself.  The transmitter also showed "Mute" on the small screen.

As it is an install we do not scan each time we power up.  However, I did try that with no change.

I think I have narrowed it down to the capsule.  If I swap capsules with our other unit the issue follows this capsule, while the capsule from the other unit works just fine on this transmitter.
I posted a bit ago with this exact problem.  Sennheiser replaced the capsule.

Hey Jon, good to know. I just had to replace 3 of these from Sennheiser (all the same lot #, ordered 8 of them at once years ago). Do you have any instructions on how to open the capsule and replace? I'm an eTech and figured it was something in the capsule's "mute me when the capsule is unscrewed" circuit that went bad but didn't want to damage the capsule. That said, Sennheiser did replace all 3 I sent in with brand new ones for $55 out of warranty repair, which ain't bad at all.

Thanks,
Jeff

I had a bad one and sent it to Senny for repair.  Turns out the problem was a bad capsule (which they replaced for their flat repair fee)! Not the switch.
If you have another capsule, try it.

Edit:  Oops, I guess I should have read up the thread a bit.
