I was discussing with a friend of mine about the days when studios had channels labelled, BD, bass guitar, etc and the processing and eq were set, not to be interfered with!  And they made records like that.  In fairness a bit before my starting time.

For a "signature sound" to identify a studio or producer, perhaps?
