Recommendation - Cheap DSP amp - Danley Nano
« on: August 13, 2018, 10:21:49 AM »

Recommendations for a small/cheap amp (preferably with DSP) to power Danley Nanos in 8ohm mode?

2x Danley Nano 20w @ 8ohms each

DSP = xover, delay, limiter

Here's what I've come up with:

Behringer iNUKE NU1000DSP ~$200
Samson Servo 120a Power Amplifier ~$200
QSC GX3 Power Amplifier ~$300
Crown XLi 800 Power Amplifier ~$230
Crown XLS 1000/2 ~$200/300
Crown D75 ~$100
Stewart Audio ~$450
Behringer EPQ304 ~$200

Any other suggestions?

A $100 20w/ch 2ch A/B amp would be perfect really.

A crown D75 would be perfect. Or Stewart audio half rack amps.

Bullwinkle: This is the amplifier, which amplifies the sound. This is the Preamplifier which, of course, amplifies the pree's.

What about the Behringer EPQ304?

I also have a Crown X1000, which is the XLi800, that I would about give away to get it out of my way.

Hmm, D75 or EPQ304 would work, I'll add them to the list, but DSP would be really, REALLY nice...

Lab.Gruppen Lucia - comes with DSP, tiny, inexpensive.

I have done 2 installs with Nanos and the Behringer NU1000DSP.
Worked great!

If it'll only ever drive a pair of those speakers, the NU1000DSP (or the new NX line) would get my vote. If there's a chance it'll end up driving other speakers, I'd look at the next one up. The NU3000 manages 300/600/1000w into 8/4/2ohm, which is a useful amount of power for other situations. The price difference isn't much IIRC.

I'll second these.  Very nice little amps for the price and features.
