Street price of a QL1 vs TF1 plus a dante card?
« on: August 10, 2018, 03:48:37 PM »

The TF1 plus Dante card is a little over 2 grand. What is the street price of a QL1?

I need to recommend a rackmountable dante-capable mixer.

Well, you've got lots of them, including the Allen & Heath SQ5, the Behringer X32 Producer and the Midas M32R to name a few other.

Let me rephrase that. "I need to recommend a Yamaha Rack mount, dante capable mixer". lol

I don't know what the current prices are. However, I know of 2 people that paid about $6600 for their QL1's a couple of years ago. In any case, I think it's fair to say that a QL costs much more than a TF.

I paid $6100 in May of this year.

I haven't made the purchase of a QL1, but have heard of others getting it right close to the $6k mark.

The TF series mixer is not even close to an LS9 or QL1, so Dante within that mixer model range to me is a no go. The card and other peripherals would cost more than the mixer.

If the only requirement is Dante ability, then every other model you can think of has a Dante card option.

Awesome, thanks.

This is for a university. They just spent 7 digits on a new scoreboard. 6k on a mixer that they will live with for the next 5+ years isn't anything.

I wanted the QL just for the premium rack. The new 5045 processor looks tasty.

The Portico 5045 is really handy on things like a referee mic, really cleans up the echoes and such.  We've been doing the football game sound for a local university, and bringing along the original hardware 5045 just for that.
