Battery powered speakers with RF mics built in, whats good ?
« on: August 09, 2018, 03:42:20 PM »

My rental inventory of Anchor 4500s is getting long in the tooth, very long.  Whats good these days in the way of easy to use for rental customers and fairly robust stick speakers with integral RF mic receivers?  The Anchors are an 8" LF plus a 1" HF horn and a couple of lead acid batteries good for about six hours of speech use.

I tried a MiPro for a client. Did. Not. Like.

Ended up with the Denon Envoi. Honestly, it surprised me and was very nice, got loud enough, fairly ergonomic. IMO it is the best bang for the buck out there and compares nicely to the Anchor system which is 2k compared to $400 (or less, surprisingly much less)

Sennheiser has some as well.

We've got a pair of the Sennheiser LSP500.  Pretty nice sound, two slots for Evo wireless receivers.  On the downside they take about a minute to boot up (not kidding), and they're rather complicated to use.  On the upside they've got Bluetooth and swappable batteries.

The batteries, like any battery, don't work so well in cold weather.
