Bss 9088 not passing audio
« on: August 05, 2018, 05:10:10 AM »

Hi, wonder can anyone help me. Was called out to a church with a Soundweb 9088 processor handling all audio mixing. The phantom power lights were flashing in a sequence 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 etc. I turned off the power, left it for a minute and turned back on again and it is now working. I’m just afraid that something may have caused this meltdown and want to try and prevent it from happening again.

Anyone got any ideas as to what caused it?

UPDATE

I power cycled the unit a few times. Sometimes it would start up properly, sometimes it would do the phantom power light sequence and not pass audio.

It’s old. Soundweb Greens have been discontinued for about 7-8 years.  Power supplies could be a likely culprit as caps dry up and age. I would have it replaced ASAP.

You should download the programming on it ASAP too.  That way when it does die you’ll at least have a place to start from.  Even if you replace with a different product line it will be helpful to know what sort of processing is happening.

+1 Almost certainly a failed electrolytic capacitor (or multiple failed ones) in the power supply section. This is a known issue.
