Sorry if this off topic too much, but figured the pros would have some advice.

One of the guitarists in my band is thinking of getting a fishman loudbox to use as his amp, plus to use as a PA for children's music stuff he does on the side.

We know it will work for his A/E guitar and vocals but we weren't sure if his Les Paul would play nice when playing with our pop/rock cover band. He only uses his pedal board for fx, never amp built in fx, and we usually go through the PA at least to some level unless a tiny venue.

If he's happy with the speaker emulator in his pedal board (assuming one of those Roland/Line6 integrated things) then a full range system on stage would work fine as a personal monitor.  Many people who use modelers apparently like the little Alto SXM12 wedge although it sounds boxy to me with instruments played though it.  Completely different feel and sound than using an actual amp on stage but some people can work with it.
