Looking at the Q/A section for EZ Up, appears the EZup canopies are NOT water-proof, but are water resistant.  Considering what anyone on this forum would be covering, a water-proof tent would be the only choice.

I don't recall the name of the one I have, but I'm sure it is not water-proof.  Considering the deluge of rain that can pop-up quickly out here, water-proof is the only way to go.

Anyone using a water-proof canopy/tent?

Unless a sewn product has been seam-sealed, it can only be (at best) "water resistant."  It is my general understanding that the FTC (in the US) has fairly strict regulations on when a product can be labeled "waterproof" vs "water resistant."  Look at high-end watches - they are now listed as only waterproof to a specific depth or pressure. YMMV.

Can't speak for KD, but I just got one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DZS0NYG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - and used it at a notoriously windy festival all last weekend. I put up one side-wall on Sunday to force the cross-traffic away from my mixing world. Held up great all weekend.

Thanks,

How did it do with keeping the sunlight attenuated inside?  Is the "fabric" good?

I went with a black Eurmax 8x8 pop up.
It has worked well for me.
I wanted the smaller footprint, and the black helps with the Faderglow on my Performer.

Do people encounter "must be white" event rules a lot?

Being able to see flashing lights and LCD screens is part of the reason I'm needing some that can block out as much light as possible.

This is probably all I need, but I am frequently alone for the early part of the setup.  Can this be set up by a single (tall) person, in a reasonable amount of time?

Bob, the spec to look for is the UV rating.  The higher the number the more opaque to UV.  White is still white but you can clip a smaller tarp inside the frame if you need more shade.

I've been looking at Eurmax canopies (some models on Amazon).  About 4 or 5 price levels where the primary difference is in the frame supplied.  Looks like 2 or 3 grades of tops in the spread, too.  Might be worth a look.
Tim - how did you clip a smaller tarp on the inside?  I currently have an 8x8; tried attaching an 8x10 (vinyl tarp) to the underside of the frame - the part just above head level.  I could never get the tarp tight enough (without damaging the frame) to remove the sagging.  Extended the tent taller to get the sagging out of the way, but that ended up letting more light in.

I'm open to suggestions!
