4 wire rj45 to 2 wire Y Male/Female
« on: May 27, 2018, 10:21:09 PM »

I need to make some 4 wire to 2 wire cables for a freespeakii system.  Attached is a page from the freespeak manual and the RAD manual.  The pinouts seem to be conflicting.

Does the RJ45 need a ground?

How about RJ45 pins 1,2 and 7,8?

Which pins are in and which are out?  The diagrams are the opposite.

Any advice is appreciated.

it would appear from the images you posted that the Freespeak and the the RAD have different pinouts for 4W connections. This is not entirely surprising, they are made by different companies who are free to specify how their products work.

As far as needing a ground, they do not need it. It is called a 4 wire connection for a reason, there are 4 wires. They should however be twisted pairs.

The nice thing is even if you screw it up, on the Freespeak II you can change the pinout internally by selecting the port setting for either To Matrix or To Panel

edit: are you using freespeak base or base II?
