Old EAW parts help needed
« on: May 07, 2018, 11:42:26 AM »

I need to replace an old EAW cone mid-range from a DS/FR 153e speaker.
The EAW PN. is 804004. It may be an Audax unit. The EAW spec sheet says it's 7".
Any help would be appreciated. I missed some on Ebay  :(

I've always had good luck contacting EAW support using their email, support[at]eaw.com.

Jason McDonald has often emailed me back the same day when I have a question regarding drivers, recone kits or dsp settings.

It may be this B&C
http://www.bcspeakers.com/en/products/lf-driver/6-5/8/6pev13

It's called a 6 1/2 inch but the frame is more like 7 inches.

See what EAW says

I had the FR153z for a while, and noticed that one of the 6.5" midrange had popped.

Unless the FR153e uses a completely different midrange than the FR153z, double-check that the impedance on the replacement driver matches the original.

I thought that the FR153z used 804004, which is 8-ohms. My FR153z came with 16-ohm mid-range drivers. So, I had a devil of a time finding replacements. I eventually got a single driver from EAW, but it took 3+ months and lots of calls back-and-forth.

Again, the FR153z may be different, so take this for what it's worth.

Follow up:  Thanks to everyone for the help.  I contacted Steve Davis, former EAW parts/service, who now runs Performance Audio of New England.  He has already sent me the driver.  It's the new version B&C. The original Audax drivers are long gone. He is great guy, old school service!
