Feeler: Outdoor listening/measurement/performance party?
« on: May 03, 2018, 09:30:07 PM »

The week of Monday 21 May I expect to be up in the central Sierra Foothills near Yosemite with an SH96HO/TH118 system to do some critical listening, measurement, and experimenting. If,  perchance, anyone here would like to join me let me know by PM or email. For reasons of general comfort and security I'm going to restrict this to folks with whom I  have some familiarity from the forum. Camping is available. Bring friends, spouses, so long as they can put up with relentless audio geeking. And if anyone would like to perform (there is a small wooden stage) I can bring the input side of a sound system, too.

I thought you were in SOCAL Frank.  I am going to be between SFO and Monterey from 8/28 until 9/2.  If you are anywhere near would love to buy you a drink and chat.

Scott, I'd be delighted. I'm in Palo Alto which is on the direct route from San Francisco to Monterey. You're on my calendar. --Frank

Point them south-west so I can get some on-axis far field measurments from here.

We'll need to add about 200dB to my numbers to get good accurate 1m values.

Hmm, might be worth the commute from Marin.

Would be interested if there's room. Been looking for excuses to squeeze in  a couple more days at Mammoth, this season.

We're on for this Tuesday 22 May. We may have a pair of SM80s there as well. If anyone else would like to join PM or email me for directions. --Frank

Hi all, due to problems with the dampening factor (50% prob of rain and T-storms for tomorrow) I've decided to cancel. I did get in a bit of measurement and listening over the last few days. We may try again later this spring or early summer if there's interest. Going to pack stuff up now  :(

I will be extremely amenable for something in the Sierras this summer when it's 110º down here in the desert.
