Alternative Projector to Epson L1200
« on: April 16, 2018, 12:19:50 PM »

Client who needs a 68ft throw on a 139" wide 16:9 screen.

$5-7k budget

I think the best fit would be this:
Epson Pro L1200UNL 7000 lumens WUXGA with lense #4 ELPLM11
But it is out of their budget.

Anything comparable, but within budget?

Alternative(s):
Epson G7200WNL 7500 Lumen WXGA
Epson L1100UNL 6000 Lumen WUXGA

----

Other details:

Current Projector: Canon LV-7555 Projector 4600 lumens XGA
Ambient light: moderate to high (side lights & unfocused stage lighting)

We’ve had good luck with NEC - we have several of this model and the WXGA version in our rental fleet and they work well.

That projector with lens should be within budget.

I work for an NEC dealer if you need help on that end.

Laser or lamp?  Lamp based has to cost significantly less up front to be worth considering.

Is power draw important?

Single chip or 3 chip DLP, or 3LCD?  Single chip gives red, green, and blue image ghosting.

The Epson models are hard to beat.  The 3 chip DLP laser models from Panasonic were slightly better at a comparison we did, as long as they had about 25%+ higher brightness rating.  The 3 chip DLP laser models from Digital Projection looked the best, as long as they were also over 25% brighter.   Until you factor in cost.
