FCC licensing
« on: April 14, 2018, 01:54:41 PM »

Trying to navigate the FCC site and apply for a couple of licenses. One Part 74 for wireless mic operation and another for some Motorola CD200 radios that I'm picking up.

Having a tough time correlating the FCC license alpha codes the the type of license I need to apply for.

Seems like I need to apply for IG or IK for the radios and I can't even take a guess on the appropriate application for wireless mics.

Apparently it is an impossible task to accomplish by yourself and you need to get someone to help you. Professional Wireless Systems is one, there are others, too. With the need to follow your lead rising as we move into the future, hopefully this thread will name the others.

When I got my license for my radios, Henry Cohen helped me through it. Actually, he pretty much did it all for me. Now, we shouldn't swamp him with requests, but maybe we can get him to post a step-by-step.

Hit him up over in the Wireless and Communications forum.

Will do. I was on a thread with him about this before and couldn't remember his name.

My current disaster includes not being able to get the FCC's unsecured Java applet to run on my computer, despite many unsafe security exceptions.

I see David Carter retired but these were my go to RF engineers when I was in the paging business in the 80's.
