Can a Sennheiser E945 capsule fit in a E835 mic?
« on: February 25, 2018, 07:12:50 PM »

I have a bunch of EW100 G2 mics.  I just tried a wired E945 mic and the sound is so much better.  Can a E945 capsule be fitter in this mic body?
Thanks, Andrew

Probably, but then it will be a wireless mic and it won't sound as good as it did wired.

Does Sennheiser not sell an e945 capsule for use with EW100 Series mics?  I use mine with the e935 capsules, but they're removable and interchangeable - no soldering required.  I think this might be what you're looking for.  Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken, and/or if this won't work with a G2 system.

That's the G3 capsule mount. G2 is much different.

That's too bad.  I wonder if the new G4 Series will share any backwards compatibility with G3?

No, you cannot fit a capsule from a wired E945 on to any wireless EW100 G1/G2/G3/G4 handheld.

However, Sennheiser has made a 945 capsule specifically for use with the EW100 G2 handheld. Of course, these are discontinued now, but you might find them second hand...

I'm quite sure that the G3 and G4 series will be compatible capsule wise. With the introduction of the G3 series, Sennheiser upgraded their wireless capsule design for improved interchangeability. All capsules can now be interchanged between G3, 2000, 6000 and 9000 series wireless products. I think it is likely, that they will continue this system with the G4.

Sennheiser doesn't tend to worry much about compatibility between series.  >:(

Not sure what you are referring too.  All Evolution series are backwards compatible for transmitter/receiver pairings across 100, 300, 500 ranges from gen 1 - gen 4.  All capsules interchange (with the exception of Neumann) across G3, 2000 series, 6000 series, 9000 series and, as was mentioned, quite sure that includes G4 series as well.
This is much more cross platform compatible than most wireless mic manufacturers.

Apologies, I wasn't clear. Sennheiser doesn't care much about mic capsule compatibility. G2 different from G3 different from 2000 different from 5000.  Meanwhile we've got Shure capsules going back 15+ years that work on Axient Digital.

I have never been completely clear of the differences both sonically and comparability wise between the KK105 and the KK205...both wireless versions of KMS105
