Beethoven - Garrick Ohlsson
« on: February 15, 2018, 05:29:05 PM »

I heard this a couple of days ago, and it struck like when I first heard Rubenstein playing the Pathetique... Then I found out that when Ohlsson had attended a Rubenstein concert was when he decided that he wanted to be a pianist...

Of course, he entered Julliard at 13!

Strangely, my grandfather hired Paderewski to play a concert many many years ago, he was famously Prime minister of Poland.  He might have also hired Rubinstein, I know he put concerts on with Vladimir de Pachmann and Fritz Kreisler.  All still legends today!
