Worst halftime ever
« on: February 04, 2018, 09:04:43 PM »

Too bad the broadcast engineer didn’t think the money channel was important to hear.

Adverts called this the music event of the year. Boring music when you could hear it.

Perhaps it was the dance event of the year?

Glad I'm en route from the PNW to Dallas (just arrived in Boise for the night) and sorta missed the whole darn thing.

I agree.

A shame really.  I have heard him do some pretty amazing vocals.  One would think you would want the vocals on top unless the singer really stinks.

I have to agree.  If you can't hear the vocals when Justin is suppose to be a great vocalist somebody doesn't have the mix right.

I’m mostly a lights and pyro guy, so I was more focused on the lighting design - of which was not impressive.  At least to me it looked way too dark and the overall programming was very vanilla and safe.  Just my two cents of course.

Oh, was there someone singing too?

I thought the show as a whole was great, but I agree you could barely hear JT thru most of it.

His obvious lip syncing during the dance numbers is understandable (I mean, how are ya gonna sing busting those sick moves!?), but his vocals during the other parts were pretty good.

What music?

All I heard was a droning in the background, somebody "singing", I think?

I guess if you like dancing it was OK.

Not my cup of tea.  Maybe I am just getting old.

You can get another shot at it tonight on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he's our musical guest tonight and Jimmy was at the game.

I had just assumed that it was supposed to sound that bad. I left and did some cooking after I watched for a while.  I guess that it wasn't simply that I'm an older fuddy-duddy. My sweetie will be relieved too, 'cause she also thought it (insert favorite disrespectful phrasing).

We switched to NBC just in time to see that the halftime show was coming up so we watched it. I didn’t get a chance to check and see if my theory is correct on this one since I didn’t have the remote and I didn’t think it was important enough to ask for it and try. It seems like a lot of shows that I see that have live music if I turn the volume up really loud (annoying everyone in the house) at that level the mix comes together. So my theory is if a mix is done loud it will usually fall apart unless you listen to it played back at that level. Did anyone raise the volume up really loud and did it sound any better?
