Those caps should have been shipped with a wire across the leads. Discharge them before you handle them.

How did you get on with installing the new caps?

I've just had an 8001 go down and am looking into replacing the power caps as an option.
Which ones did you go for and do they fit/work as expected?

Sorry I missed this. The new caps worked great - once the rectifiers were replaced. It's likely the failed rectifier is what caused the cap to blow.

Could be an either/or.... 

a shorted cap could stress a rectifier diode (that will melt and fail as a short)

or a shorted diode could overheat a cap and boil off the electrolyte... 

If both are bad could be a coin toss, but if the cap is not a short circuit, I suspect the diode failed first.

At this point it is academic.

I cant find the same caps, only 30.000uf cornell DCMC will fit.

30,000 uf @ 75V will work (if it fits)... there may be a slight difference in short term LF headroom (due to higher ripple voltage), but this is unlikely to be audible.
