Question about a Peavey IPR2 2000dsp
« on: January 24, 2018, 01:19:56 PM »

Hi,
A while back I bought this amp used on eBay, and the dsp options are the same as in the older series IPRs (1600).  In other words no limiting, no stored presets etc.
I called Peavey tech support yesterday, and the guy claimed that the manual for the 2000 was wrong about the dsp options.
Anybody have one of these? Confirm or deny?

Thanks.    Hanno

...no limiting, no stored presets etc.
I called Peavey tech support yesterday... the manual for the 2000 was wrong about the dsp options.

I do not own one of these, but:

Have you scrolled through the menu(s) on your unit?   In the 2011 (silver faceplate) manual, I see crossover, parametric EQ, delay, and Maxxbass.  It looks like it has presets accessible from the "setup wizard" that include some canned EQs to go with those presets.  I saw nothing about limiters.

The 2013 (blackface) shows all the above with the addition of limiter settings.

Bear in mind that Peavey can change features at anytime during a product run, so "you can't always tell by looking at the cover".  Gotta look inside (the menus).  :D

I hope this helps.

This is a blackface unit!
None of the new features are accessible. Software version 1.02

Hi Hanno,

Is there some sort of password lockout?
Maybe you can do a complete reset?

Good luck,  Weogo

Weogo,
The dsp pages don't correspond to the ones the manual lays out for the IPR2

Thanks. Hanno

Hmmm.  If Peavey can't help...

My guess is the unit was locked.  Did Peavey give you instructions to unlock it?

Hint - it probably involves holding down the 'select' button while turning on the power, and then entering a code using the scroll wheel...

No, definitely not locked. I'm able to both program it and lock it. BUT no page for limiting, no 4 user definable presets.  As far as dsp is concerned, it acts like the previous generation ( IPR 1600dsp

My original thought was that a user flashed it with the wrong firmware.  I checked the Peavey product pages and the owners manual and didn't see any mention of firmware updates or see any obvious way of connection to do so.  I presume there is a PC board connection for that sort of thing...

Seeing as there doesn't seem to be a way for an end user to change FW it seems more likely it was born this way.  You need a different person on the phone at Peavey.

Well, after perusing the Peavey amplifier forums for over an hour, I found this statement:

There is no other version. The 2000 and 3000 do not have 4 preset memory locations or limiting functions. These features are only available in the IPR2 5000 and 7500 DSP models.
