Ultra large screens and Powerpoint/Keynote
« on: January 11, 2018, 11:24:50 AM »

Lately we have been doing some very large projection blends and LED walls.  Typical setup involves a Barco E2 and Resolume for backgrounds and video playback.  Presentations and other standard content gets sourced at some standard resolution and put in a PIP layer.

We have a show coming up with a 9600X1080 LED wall.  No problem for the E2 and resolume on a trashcan mac, but the client also wants to do Powerpoint and Keynote at that resolution!  I have never pushed powerpoint past 2k on standard laptops.

Do I need software like PowerShow?  Is it stable?  Other options include multihead adapters.  I always thought of them as a gimic but we are looking hard at them.  I think the E2 edid can be set to mimic a multihead but I have not tried it.  Any recommendations on hardware or software would be welcome.  Thank you.

Interesting question.  I just opened up keynote and it maxes at 6000 wide.  I do a lot of work in the church world so ProPresenter is what I end up using a lot for presentation software.  I find it works fantastic for me.  I just opened it up and it didn't even cough at a 9600x1080 resolution.  You'd need to use a couple triple-head units to get that output though.  I haven't ever done a setup using 6 displays.  I have done 6 display video walls using Pro Video Player 2 using 2 triple head units and it worked fine.

Had an interesting conference call with the clients media company.  The solution they use for this is to split up the presentations and run powerpoint on two laptops with triplehead2go.

Apparently sync between the two machines is not the problem I would think it would be.
