Hi all,

I started teaching some kids about the wonderful world of stage techniques (sound, lights, video...).
Yeah, I know: "He who can, does; he who can't teaches." 

Off course, I started scanning the web for medium length videos about our craft, but I found very little useful stuff. There's plenty to be found about specific subjects, and a lot of "behind the scenes" aimed at the general public, but very few suited for 14-15 year olds, to introduce them to (hopefully) their future career.

I guess I'm mainly looking for "Hi, this is Tim, he's audio and he does this, and that's Joan, she's rigging, she does that." style videos, if any are available. Half an hour length would be perfect, but off course any length will do.

I've been entertaining the idea to make my own on one of my jobs, but that seems hard to do. I don't think my client would be ok with me wasting my time like that...

So, if you have any material you can point me to, or even would be happy to share, I would be very grateful!

You might want to try Control Booth, a general live theater forum. IIRC, there are a number of school-age members (as well as working pros).

There are a number of LAB participants who have cross-pollinated the Control Booth forums... you'll see some vaguely familiar names (I'm "TimMc").  Great resource for almost everything involving the non-performing aspects of theatre and staging shows.

The original was produced for Canadian broadcast TV, I believe.  There's a DVD of it available.  Some repetition between segments, but it does introduce the audience to the various roles.

The single most important skill -- the one that everyone involved in production must bear, lest they be kicked out summarily -- is how to properly coil a cable.

It talks about video cables, but the lessons presented here are applicable to every type of cable: microphone, data, extension cords, even garden hoses.

Never, ever, ever let someone wrap a cord around their elbow. That kills cords.

There is also the added advantage of lots of truly wonderful (and sometimes long-that's a good thing) posts by Ron Hebbard.  He seems to post there more than here. 
Getting back to the OP, at CB I learned about a wonderful video. Sing Faster, the Stagehands Ring Cycle. It's a 1999 documentary about the SF opera staging of the entire Ring cycle, from a behind the scenes point of view.  It can be found at youtube.
