RF Distro4 Cascade into UA844 Antenna input 12v DC bias
« on: January 05, 2018, 08:06:59 PM »

I think I did a stupid!

Did I break anything!!??

RF Venue Distro4 Cascade output
Into
Shure UA844 Antenna input

12v DC bias was coming out of UA844 antennas into the Distro4 cascade ports.

I checked with volt meter, definitely voltage between the center conductor of 844 and the chassis ground of Distro4.

----

If I didn't break anything. What do I do now?

Is there a way to disable the 12v bias in the Shure? [I know the RF Venue can disable it]

Options:
A) Leave it; 12v bias doesn't hurt cascade out amp circuitry.
B) Swap them; disable DC bias on RF Venue Distro4. [I don't like this because the Shure manual says the UA844 can be overloaded easier than its other units and I figure RF Venue's Distro4 is better/newer technology].
C) Disable; physically remove the DC Bias on the UA844.
D) Buy; 2nd RF Venue (I got the UA844 used with my mics so I was just making do, originally I was going for passive splits out of Distro4, but then I realized I had the UA844 so I was utilizing it).

Looks like there's a guide to disable DC voltage when combining them passively.

No damage....

Well that's great! Thanks!

Next step? I know you're time is valuable, so which option: A,B,C?

Well, my hat is off to RF Venue, I sent an email to Chris Regan and he's already responded and said it should be fine!

Thanks Pete!
