SpeakON Splitters?
« on: December 05, 2017, 03:07:26 AM »

Just need a basic 12gauge "Y" splitter, but I just can't seem to find them. Found a splitter box on amazon, is that pretty much the only option?

Also found this on YouTube, but it doesn't have any links, and their website is not easy to navigate, and couldn't find them:

Easy enough to make one. I'd be happy to put something together for the price of parts and postage. Just let me know whether you want SpeakOn male/female at which bits, two-core, four, or eight etc etc.

Have you seen the Speakon Cubes by Digiflex? A bit pricey but a great product.

I appreciate the gesture! I also thought about doing it myself but the price for parts was the same then just buying it, or so I thought. Got the Stellar NL4-SPLIT, which is a bit bigger than needed, but needed it soon. I opened it up, and was disgusted by the soldering job and the choice for wires. The wire plastic sleeves were melted in spots no where near the ends. I'm just gonna buy some 12AWG wire and redo it myself lol

I'm just surprised no one is selling them in a basic "Y" design, or if they're gonna sell them in a box, it should at least be multifunction, with parallel and series, and 4 pin to 2 splitter, etc.

Yeah, that's been my experience too with some cables, snakes, adapters, etc--you can buy an off-the-shelf product cheaper than the parts, but then you may need to break out the soldering iron to clean up their mess.

I'm sure Best-Tronics or Redco could easily whip up a box to your spec.  BTPA has done Powercon 32A Y boxes for me before (panel mount in, 2 tails out), so I know a Speakon box should be no problem.

It's going to be tough to properly get 2 12 gauge cables into a speakon connector for a split.  The box splitter route is probably your best bet.  Shouldn't be too hard to hammer something together that you know is done correctly.
