Truck crash on Bay Bridge
« on: December 02, 2017, 06:19:12 PM »

Just saw this at another forum (ControlBooth).  A driver of a rental truck lost control and plowed into 5 cars and wiped out a toll booth.  The toll booth operator and 1 person from one of the cars have died.  The truck driver sustained serious injuries.  Law enforcement suspects DWI.  The cargo was described as sound and lighting equipment.  Some of the widely scattered road cases are marked 4Wall and AV.

The driver was named in that article - Daniel Berk. Looks like he is doing light and sound in SF.

Just saw this on FB with good helicopter video

Figured I’d find a post about it on here. Definitely some audio equipment. I see a stray wedge in the carnage.  That is a bad day right there.

The driver, still in hospital, has been charged with DUI.  Unknown when he will make a court appearance.

They got the other toll booths operational for this morning's commute but said it may take some weeks to rebuild the one that got run over.

Don't know if it was DUI or fatigue coming back from a late load out.  Or many a combination of both.  Stay safe out there folks.

When the full impact of what he has done hits home, that driver is going to wish it were him and not the other guy that was killed. :(

We just has a situation on a major freeway north of Toronto where a line of cars had slowed for a small accident and a tractor trailer plowed into the rear of the line.
Fire and carnage you can't imagine!
"distracted driving" was concluded.
Gotta be careful out there!

I have seen a few of those on the opposite side of interstate highways. I always keep some distance from the car in front of me and look for a way out and an eye in the rear view for vehicles that dont seem to be slowing.

4Wall appears to be lighting.

Really tragic for all involved.
