Short BBC feature on the acoustics of the new Tokyo Opera House

Beautifully designed all-wood interior at the Tokyo Opera House: the irregular roof, the diffusers, and the reflectors are all optimized for ideal acoustical quality.

That looks more like a concert hall than an opera house. I'm not sure how you would stage a traditional opera in that without wing space for sets or a pit for the orchestra.

And yet there was a clip of an Opera, with the musicians on stage.
Maybe Japanese opera is not the same as here.

空 (kara) meaning 'empty, blank, vacant'. It's written 空オケ and read [ka ra o ke]. ;^)

I thought "karaoke" translated to "drunks without talent, attempting to sing."  Back to school for me. ;)

All the bookings are classical on the calendar.

Typical Japanese, my boss is dead, I really don't know how he came up with the design.  The respect the hierarchy even in death.
