Would you turn the same students lose on the console? At least with a tablet you can restrict how much damage they can do.

Don't disagree but when the system takes off with 6000 cycles of feedback at 110db with a room full of grandparents at least you can train them to grab the oh shit button "master fader". If your in over your head which I feel most of the operators of this system would be for some time even beyond the (1) hour training the bid has proposed in it for training by the installer?  You give someone a tablet and they are three layers deep and dont know how to get back to main faders because they have no basic concept of how a console works at least the faders on a hard surface never disappear "sort of". The school(s) should really take the system seriously and have multiple training and have someone shadow them for an event or two. That's the best option in my opinion for both console or tablet operations.

Ummmm. No.
Back wall, dead center is NOT the place you want to be.
Get out to one side or the other a bunch of feet, and make sure sound deadening shit is covering the wall behind you.
Dead center, back wall, you will either be in a deep null, or a massive boost in bass energy. Add an overhang, and it's a trifecta for shit sound.
Been there, done that. Fight the "planner"to get needed space. Heck, they want you invisible, and grumble about "all that stuff" to anyone that listens.
Chris.

Well they are pretty set where it's getting placed and a 1000% improvement. The current console is in the AV room 120' from the stage with a 1'X1' hole in front of the console. At least they will be in the same room moving it where they are proposing. Other logistics such as dropping the snake and power make the selected position very easy. Yes not the best position but way better then where it's at now.

This is the generation that has spent 1/3 to 1/2 of every waking hour since birth on a hand held device of some kind, so maybe you are selling them a little short on pickup speed.

And just for clarity my suggestion to lockup the console was meant for when it's not in use, and to that end don't try to reinvent the wheel just get a lockable road case for it and bolt or otherwise fasten that to a stand/table at the designated mix position.
