No reason at all.  A Countryman B3 has been my show bag test mic for years and it works just fine for everything you'd use an analyzer mic for on show site.

Any reason to not use an omni lav mic for quick and dirty time alignment?

Totally fine, as long as you know the base frequency response of that mic and can compensate for it in your measurement. Most/all of them are tailored for a good sound rather than a flat response.

Kindof exudes the "on a budget" look for the clients... but not a bad idea!
