My pet peeve when working with groups in church- people that want to be up front and sing, but are afraid someone will hear them :-\

Not only singing but when they get up just to speak it can be even worse.

Put four dynamic vocal mics and tell them to sing into their mic, balance the voices as needed at the board, problem solved. No fancy mics needed.

Looks like we lost him by being frank.  Too bad.

Not to pick on this particular OP...

But i can't help but note the number of people on various forums who describe themselves as being "kinda new to sound" or something like that but then follow that up with statements that begin "i know that...".  Invariably, the thing they "know" is some oft repeated myth.  But even when more experienced folks point this out in the gentlest of all possible ways they hold on to their "knowledge" with a sort of iron death grip.  It amazes me.

Ultimately, the reason such people seek out advice is to have their ideas validated by more seasoned individuals.  The last thing in the world they want to hear is that their ideas are actually hogwash....

I'm truly not picking on this one individual as i don't know him or his reasons for coming and going from our gathering so quickly.  But the pattern does seem quite familiar.
