SMA female to SMA male for my TTi
« on: August 14, 2017, 03:06:28 pm »

The straight through SMA adapter on my TTi needs replacing, as I remove the antenna to pack.  Simple enough, eh?  The SMA plug has the center pin, the SMA jack has the hole in the center.  No RP foolishness.

All I can find is adapters, such as https://www.amphenolrf.com/132171.html  I've been to Mouser, DigiKey, etc.  All the usual suspects.

However the https://www.amphenolrf.com/132171.html picture shows a center pin on both sides.  Makes my head hurt.

Thanks in advance.

You could always use a 1dB attenuator.

I took the time to write Amphenol's general customer service, asking why the photo and item description didn't match.  They actually sent a guy into the warehouse to open a box and look.  Sure enough, their web photo was wrong.  Fine service, I say.  I will order a couple today.

Thanks, Harry, for the Mini-Circuits suggestion.  I can get lost in their web site dreaming up projects.  And Mark for the Pasternac suggestion; a great resource I wasn't aware of.

I can't (yet) justify owning a TTi, but as the owner of an RF Explorer I am curious: what do you use this adapter for?

Thanks!

It reduces the wear and tear on the SA's connector, which would be far more expensive to replace than the sacrificial adapter. Also eliminates downtime of the SA due to connector damage.
