Dear Pros,

I need to make a mic converter. I have a Audio-Technica Lo-Z U857Q gooseneck that I need to plug into a Shure UR1 mini 4-pin XLR wireless transmitter.

I have no problem with the hardware components, soldering, etc. What I need is a schematic as I don't know how to figure out the resistance/capacitance/impedance conversions.

Any help would be much appreciated and I would even learn something along the way if someone is willing to school me in doing this.

The transmitter pack supplies only 5v of bias voltage whereas the A-T gooseneck requires 12v of phantom power.  There is more than matching impedance.

Yes.

I take it you need a "wireless" lectern and already own these items.  My preference is to use unmodified mics with XLR connectors and a Sennheiser or Lectrosonics "butt plug" transmitter that supplies phantom power but that approach means spending $ you may not have in the budget.

I suggest you contact both Audio-Technica (call them, not email) in Stowe, OH and also contact Shure's engineering support group (email works) about your proposed use.  They'll provide specific guidance.

Since the AT mic is a Q series with XLR out, the Shure WA310 cable with a phantom power supply module will do what you need.

WA 310:

XLR pin 1 = TA4F pin 1 (cable shield)
XLR pin 2 = TA4F pin 3 (audio +)
XLR pin 3 = TA4F pin 1 (audio -)
No connection to TA4F pin 2 or pin 4
