I sent a question to the forum bosses, but got no response.

When I click "Reply", it always quotes.  This is maddening.  If I want to quote, I'll click "Quote".

What's the problem here?

If you want to reply without the quote, just type in the Quick-Reply box.

There is no "quick reply" button in the view that I see.  Only reply and quote as the OP posted.  Reply quotes the entire comment as does quote.

So, to get reply to function as reply (or quick reply) I should switch to a theme that 152 people are using while the theme in use by more than 20,000 people has two differently labeled buttons that seem to perform an identical task.

I would certainly call that a bug.

Because this is non threading forum software we encourage everyone to always use the quote function so there is a connection to what you are replying to. Without the quote a post becomes a random message in a topic that may have drifted away.

Please use quoting. Better yet make the small effort to edit the quote to just the part you are responding to.

I'm with Lee on this one.
There are times when a reply can be on track and not have a quote.
Yes, it can be edited but why not give members the choice to use the 2 options as they are labeled?
I shall look at the "curve "option as well.
