Behringer Service Center in Las Vegas
« on: June 03, 2017, 07:55:45 AM »

Have any of you dealt with the Behringer Service Center in LV, NV?
If so, what was your experience? How fast was turnaround in your instance? How communicative were they (either by phone or email)?
I ask in order to contextualize the (seemingly) extraordinarily long wait to get an X32 Compact back from repair.
Thanx for sharing!

They do seem to lose track of things sometimes. I sent in a Producer for a re-repair of the Ethernet remote control port. It had stopped talking to any iPad when I first got it. Sent it in for repair, came back fixed, then same thing crapped out again after sitting on for a while.

Sent it in again (got an RA number first, of course), then forgot about it for a few months. Called them, they said, oh, didn't we call you? It works fine.

Argued respectfully, got a senior tech on the phone, he said it worked for them, must be a problem on my end. Argued respectfully some more, stated my experiences with my 5 other Producers and 10 full size consoles, finally he said he'd leave it plugged in and on over the weekend.

Got a call Monday saying, guess what, it doesn't work.

It came back about a week later and has stayed on a lot off and on in the months since and works fine.

So, yes, give them a call to see what's going on. And they can fix things just fine.

x32 Rack. Sent in for a power supply issue. No biggie as I had a backup unit.

4ish weeks later, no response. Called with my RMA number, it hadn't been looked at. They'd get on it right away.

que another 2 weeks of emails/phone calls back and forth to get it paid for, and to get it on its way.

There were some nice people I talked to on the phone, but damn does it seem dysfunctional.

If I need to send anything in for repair again. I'm just going to set reminders on my calendar to call every few days for an update so I don't get lost in their "system"

Hi Al,

I'll chime in to describe my experience.  This was a few years ago now however....  My full size X32 has a problem with one fader.  I sent it to the Vegas service center for repair under warranty.  They had it for a little while, nothing excessive, and did call me back to report on their progress.  They reported that they'd fixed the problem, and shipped the console back to me.  However, the problem was not fixed.

The 'repair' was done in the off season, and a couple months later when the same (admittedly intermittent) problem reared its head again, the warranty had expired.  I called back to see what could be done, and since it was no longer under warranty, any repair would be on my dime.  Given the cost of the repair, plus freight, relative to the diminishing value of the console, I opted not to go down that road again.  So until I can find the time to order a replacement fader and attempt the repair myself, I have two bad channels (same fader on two layers) to skip over.  Oh well, 30 channels is plenty...

So, while I'm satisfied with the level of communication and response time they offered (your real question), I can't really commend their work or subsequent support.  Can't say I'm surprised however, when you consider the new price of this item and their.. umm... reputation.  It's been argued here that when you buy top-dollar kit, you're also buying MFG support etc, so it stands to reason that corner gets cut first at the budget end of the spectrum...   Hope you have more success in the long run!

Thanks to all for "chiming in"!

I now have been informed of some "movement" pertaining to the mixer in question, so here's hoping!

Peace!
