Danley TH212 Output
« on: May 12, 2017, 01:29:24 PM »

I have two (2) Danley TH212 Subs in an install and just had to have the speakers reconed in one of them. (Sound engineer error). The sub with the recone has a much reduced output. I checked the polarity, and the cabinet ohms (3 ohms on a cheap meter) and everything checked out ok. What could it be?

Are you SURE you have them wired properly.

They ARE NOT wired red to red to pos.

The drivers are in parallel electrically, but wired out of polarity.

This is done to keep the drivers moving in the same direction relative to the listener-NOT in and out of the baskets.

The cone that you can see the terminals on, is wired "normal".  The colored wire goes to the RED terminal and the black wire goes to the black terminal.

The driver you see the cone on, is wired out of polarity.  So the colored wire goes to the BLACK terminal and the black wire goes to the RED terminal.

I have found the battery trick very helpful on boxes where I am just not 100% sure i connected that speaker back up right.  (Cough TH812 Cough).   Typically all driver should move in the same relative direction, ie, into the box, out of the box.

Uhmm no.
Uhmm-YES

Can you give me an example of why you say "no".

I am not aware of any by any manufacturer.

But maybe you know of an example that you could share with us to help us understand.

I know many of us are curious.
