EV 633 Mic Help
« on: April 11, 2017, 11:31:34 AM »

I recently bought an Electro Voice 633 microphone, and am trying to wire an XLR connector to it since it didn't come with it's original two pin cable. The pinout I understand. What I need help with is advice on how to get the old connector out. I tried taking the set screw out, but the connector won't move. Anybody have experience with this mic that can give advice? Also, if anyone knows if it's possible to get the cartridge out of the casing without breaking anything, let me know as well. It would be nice to hammer out the screen, and check the diaphragm.

Here's the cut sheet from EV's website: http://www.electrovoice.com/downloadfile.php?i=970571

Thanks for the help.

Your best bet is to just get the right connector for the mic and wire a 6' XLR to Tuchel (I think) cable to connect your regular mic cables to.

I think the mating connector is an Amphenol MC-2M.  They seem to be available (for a price).  Here's one source.
