Did JBL VRX fly ware change at some point?
« on: March 25, 2017, 02:48:01 PM »

I recently purchased a used VRX system, 6 tops & 2 subs and I noticed that the fly ware tabs that lock to the next cabinet are different than the ones from VRX cabs at my office. They are thicker one direction and narrower another. The pin size is different too. Making the two types of cabinets incompatible with each other.

The decals and drivers to the system I got all seem authentic, so if it's a knockoff they're the best copies I've ever seen.  The seller said these were a "dealer demo".  Is there any info from you Harmon-heads that can help me understand what's going on?  Thanks.

Way back in the day they had VRX932-LA, and later updated them to LA-1. I don't remember all the differences off the top of my head.  This happened at least 7 years ago.

I should have mentioned these are LA-1. It is possible these were a pre-public release version, so they might have LA hardware. I don't know that for sure. The cabinets are in very good condition. Any one ever called JBL with a serial and said "tell me about it!"?

I have used both the original 932LA and 932LA-1 and have not noticed an obvious difference. I use the same array frames with both and the pins have seemed the same. That said I always avoid combining the LA and LA-1 in the same array.
