Maybe easier/better to record long loops to a media player?
There are ambient sound CD sets that are much better quality than those $30 "appliances"
I've experimented with quite a few different cheaper ones and found they all loop the same track over continuously -not noticeable at first but after long use your brain starts to recognize it.
For theme-park or show use that's fine because no guest is there long enough but it will drive the everyday staff crazy.
There are better machiness but they are in the $200 range and have memory cards with more sounds you pay extra for. These solve the loop problem but still usually suffer from bad aliasing and digital noise artifacts that are revealed when playing through a quality system
And for commercial use there's the rights issue, so buying and retaining a set of CD's to rip into your playback hardware is better than ripping the output of the appliance.
