Truss clamp question
« on: February 15, 2017, 10:43:47 AM »

Just acquired some Blizzard Stormchaser LED bars and am trying to figure out the best way to mount them vertically on trussing or on a tripod (we use both, depending on the gig/venue).

I suppose I could install the Blizzard end brackets and then use a u-bolt around the tripod or truss, but I was hoping there might be a faster way, and one that doesn't require me to make multiple trips to the hardware store to find the proper u-bolts. :)

Any suggestions? Is there a magic GT clamp out there that I can't seem to find?

It looks to me like you just bolt a regular half coupler (O clamp) to the end brackets, and you are ready to go. The Blizzard owners manual show a center hole on the end brackets.

10-4. I just received the Stormchasers a bit ago and looked at them - you're right. I can use the center hole and my existing global truss mini 360s. Yay!

Depending on what you are using for a tripod, you might need to get a clamp that works on 1.5" (38mm) o.d. tubing. A standard GT mini 360 clamp will not work on 38mm tubing. GT makes a 1.3" to 1.5" clamp, however, which uses the same M10 series bolt as the larger version.
