It won't matter.  The entire room is a pressure zone at LF frequencies and the entire building will be diaphragmatic to some extent (like the roof, as mentioned above).

The trend to nausea-inducing levels of ELF will probably not abate in what is left of my lifetime so I'll try to not be the cranky old guy... but when you want to open an establishment that features such performances you probably need to start with site selection, and noise isolation as the primary criteria in construction.  Fixing the problem to satisfaction of neighbors after the fact will be an exercise akin to  throwing money into the ocean.  I've been down this road with live music clubs who don't have nearly the amounts of ELF that dance clubs use and have a good idea of how difficult it is to get another -10dB @ 45Hz;  getting that at 30Hz will be at least 6dB$ more expensive.

Directional subs work very well in a large open area.

As soon as you start to put them "inside a box" (room), all sorts of things start to change.

The distance to other walls can greatly affect what happen if the wall was not there.

Simple directional models do not always work in an enclosed space the way the model says that it will-due to the boundaries.

If you wanted to, you could rent an Acoustic Camera.

You could put it outside the building and see on the screen exactly where the sound is leaking out of the building, and see the differences in level etc.

It is pretty cool.

We showed one at Infocomm a couple of years ago.  Fun to play with.

These are majorly cool. The low frequency limit on the largest one is 80 Hz, though.

That should be enough to get a good idea.

It is quite fun to see the sound come from under a door or on a moving object (like the wheels of a train).

You can see if some wheels are squeaking more than others.

Whoa that is so cool. We've done a good bit of walking around with db meters all around the building, so I dunno if something like that is really necessary... but I still might try to convince them to rent one, just cuz it would be fun to play with

An SPL meter cannot tell you where the sound is coming from.

It can kinda get close if you are lucky-but it could also be reading reflections, which can really screw with what it is telling you.
