I used to keep the measurement mic with the other mics, but it really made more sense to keep it in my little "meas kit" that also has the interface, cables, splitters, impedance boxes, etc. So I needed an individual case. Here's what I made -- total cost <$3, if you have some PVC pipe lying around.

It turns out that the OD of 3/4" schedule 40 pipe is just slightly larger than the ID of 1" sch 40 pipe, so a longitudinal slit in the smaller pipe allows for a nice press fit. I chamfered the ID of the inboard end of the small pipe to make a nest for the mic. When the mic is in the case its business end is not touching anything. A block of foam against the connector end keeps it snug. A tiny hole allows the case to breath, but this is likely unnecessary.

This is NOT a good case if you need to carry your mic on a commercial flight

If flying you might want multiple mics, so tape all the cases together in a bundle.  It's important to be early for security screening on flights, so you'll need a clock to keep track of time.  Tape that to the bundle too.  :-)

Don't forget to wrap some wire around it so the bundle stays together.

Cool! My first mic case was an army surplus steel case that originally held 4 x 81mm HE mortar rounds. The inside had two full length foam pads, lined with corduroy(!) and the lid was similarly padded. The mics friction fit into the groove between the two pads. Held about 16 mics...toured with it for all of 1980 and never lost a mic. No idea where / when I parted with it.

An old fashioned one with some wires coming off it is REAL good.

I use a cigar caddy that holds 2 cigars for mics when I fly.

It is a bit more money-but doesn't draw as much attention.

I do like your mic support on the inside.
