Receptacle Cover Plates
« on: January 23, 2017, 12:39:56 PM »

No wonder we didn't hear a difference in the expensive audiophile receptacle cover plates, we weren't torquing them correctly!

"ok, tonight Joe Pxxxxxx installed -7- of the Furutech 105-D NCF outlet covers on my outlets replacing the previous metal covers.. it took him about 30-35 minutes. he torqued them to a spec he has found is best so far in his experience."

I think it's funny they joke about them being magical... as opposed to what other process that makes receptacles sound better?

From their website:

I replaced the old 2-wire outlet in my laundry room that my dishwasher was plugged into (using an adapter) and "magically" stopped the dishwasher from randomly losing power and dropping out.

The GFCI protection seems a useful bonus when water and mains power connect to the same appliance. In fact my "hot" hot water heater could have energized my dishwasher too (old outlet was not grounded, new one is).

I thought this was a link to a satire site, I'm still not entirely convinced that it isn't.

Wow.

Wow.

They just don't know it is a satire site.  The quote that started this thread is from page 33 of the thread with 347 posts so far. It starts out on the first page saying the duplex outlets they are using are $350 each and the cover plates are 'around $100'.

I just retired. If I could only get past the ethical hurdle, there seems to be a lot of easy money selling magic to the audiophools.

"how these outlets are different is there is added tourmaline crystals to the carbon fiber. it's said to improve resonance control and thermodynamic heat. tourmaline, when heated, converts energy to negative ions which causes a potential which then dissipates static. hair dryers use tourmaline for the same reason."

In fact my "hot" hot water heater...

Why do you need to heat hot water? I've got a cold water heater in my house.

The water in his house was "hot" or energized from a leaky heater element.  With no return path other than the person in the shower it brought a new tingle to the experience.

Just throw random chemicals in the tub and wait for lightning to strike, Bam! You're the flash! :)

I know that! I was referring to the second hot (after the air-quotes "hot")!
