My NYE pics would just be of my feet up watching the ball drop on TV...

I haven't worked a NYE in quite a few years.  I really don't miss it.

Although i'm sure i could have gotten on that MSI NYE gig if i wanted to.  Almost wish i had.

Almost...

Hey Scott: what's your drummer using for a kick?

-Mark

It's a Cajon. Sounds awesome. Like the perfect kick drum sound.

We actually got the idea from a band out of Brooklyn I did sound for. Funny thing, when I did sound for them the 2nd time the drummer didn't remember using a Cajon the previous time. And it 100% was the same drummer. How do you forget doing that?

1,2,3-What about all the people who were there? I'm sure it's on FB by now.
...

Most definitely, and I like to scour Youtube a day or so after a big event to see what videos people posted!  The difference to me is that I'd be publicly distributing media from an event that I have direct affiliation with...and here where full names are required there's no way to deny what I share!  While I'm sure most smaller acts such as the bar and club bands would be thrilled with the free publicity, the larger events - not so much.  Many times there are certain NDAs in place or requirements such as "all media intended for public distribution must be screened and approved by (the artist/sponsor's) Public Affairs representative".  Given how highly competitive certain aspects of live events can be, not all clients want all aspects of their events to be public.  In fact, there are usually one or two events I support each year where the client specifically chooses not to publicly disclose the various companies working on the production.  That's their choice, and if I want their repeated business I need to respect that.

Of course when allowable and applicable I'll share a few pictures or videos with friends and family (because I AM proud of the work I do), but posting to Youtube is almost always a no-go, and even the pictures on my website are carefully selected so that no faces are recognizable besides my own and that no event signage or sponsorship is visible.  Even all that aside, I just don't usually see the point of showing off one's system to a community of similar professionals.  I appreciate that we're held to a higher standard here versus elsewhere, and posting eye candy of equipment just for bragging sake seems to rather degrade the quality of our conversations.  Just my two cents though!

What the heck....The client won't mind.

To be clear the Blizzard wash lights were provided as part of our package, the rear lights belong to the band.

Interesting expression of lighting there, Scott.  Did you happen to catch the model of laser being used on the back truss?

Man I really need to learn about lights.  Those colors look so good together, and the faces are well lit.

Yeah, I know where you're coming from. We had to make a change a couple of years ago, based on a couple of clients' comments. Cool-looking flashy moving lights used to be the baseline that we built up from. Good face lighting is now the baseline that we build up from. It's kind of like when I discovered that the lead vocal being on top is more important than the "synergy" between the bass guitar and the kick drum! :)
