Ubiquiti Bullet M5 antenna recommendations
« on: December 14, 2016, 01:31:12 PM »

Hello All

Wanting to know what antennas you all are using with success out there. Been looking at specs from different manufacturers and have noticed the vertical patterns are different on many of them. Wanting something with good coverage also up in balconies and 300 sections. Hopefully short enough to fit in a rack drawer. Thanks

Hi Paulo,
L-Com, model:HGV-4907U. I bought it direct from L-Com in September for $120.90. Excellent results for me. We store it in the back of the 19-inch wireless rack for transportation.
Best regards,

Also considering purchasing a Ubiquity Bullet M5-HP for tablet mixing, and had the same question about an antenna.  @Paulo - what did you end up with, and how do you like it?

Has anyone used the Ubiquity AMO5G10 with a Bullet M5?  ( https://www.ubnt.com/airmax/airmax-omni-antenna/ )  Looks to be about the same price as the L-Com model Bob recommended, but with 3dB more gain.

Are there other good options I may not be considering for tablet FOH and personal monitor mixing to an X32 rack, in congested wifi environments?

And a related question - how are you all getting these rigs up into the air?  Fully-extended mic stand (what clip?), or something more interesting?

Thanks!

Keep in mind that the "gain" of an omni antenna is related to it's pattern.
A tighter vertical pattern with show as a higher gain.
If you want better vertical coverage, the specs will show less "gain" as you are spreading the signal out over a larger area.

L-Com HG5808U here.  Great reception a couple hundred feet away (line of sight) with 15-20k people in the audience.  And the Bullet fits nicely into a Shure wireless clip.  LP claw to the side of the FOH tent, on an Atlas MS12, whatever works.

Hello Bob, I'm looking for an Antenna also for my Bullet AC. I will use it in 5Ghz mode.

The Antenna you posted is an 4.9ghz Antenna, does that work properly for 5Ghz?

thank you so much

Hi Tiago,

Yes, the L-Com antenna I mentioned worked with no problems.

Thank you Bob.

So for the 5Ghz band , what are the Antennas frequencies that will work?

I see Antennas for 4,9g, 5g, 5.1G, 5,3G .... 5,6G
I'm confused

thanks
